New House

For the folks who don't know, I finally bit the bullet. I've come to realize that Gainesville is my home so for all you who said "Jose's staying in Gainesville forever"- you were right. Maybe. We'll see. I found a house about two and a half weeks ago and put an offer on it. They accepted the offer and I closed yesterday, Friday. Now I've got tons of work ahead of me.

I've got to do some electrical, some plumbing, a lot of painting, I'm sanding and restaining the baseboards. I've got all wood floors that need to be sanded and refinished. I will be putting up over 30 panels of privacy fencing so my Sanford, Tepedino, and Sons junk company can sit behind the fence without anyone being the wiser. I won't move in right away, but when I feel like the house is ready to take the furniture, I'll start moving in. I did take my picnic table over with the benches and a few chairs. There's a radio too. Right now it's a whole lot easier to work on the house with it virtually empty.

Lucky for me I closed just in time for my Spring Break. This whole week I'm on Spring Break and I'll be at the house. If you feel like it, just stop by. If I'm not there, I'm out for supplies and will be right back. If you owe me a favor, now's the time to help out. If you want me to owe you a favor, stop by. Yep, I'm already calling in my markers. If you want to give a weekend or several evenings to it, let me know. I'm moving quickly on all the projects and hope to have the majority done by next weekend: Sunday, April 8. I love you all and look forward to hosting you at my (new to me) house. Of course, when I have a housewarming party I'll be sure to post that news with time to spare. There's a slight likelihood of the party being in May, but with all the bachelor parties, school trips, and weddings coming up I might just push it into July.

It's really easy to get to the house. It's in the neighborhood across from Ballyhoo Grill and Stonewood. You remember the "new" Royal Park theaters on Newbery Road? There's a stoplight that gets you into all that area. Well, instead of turning into the Plaza Royale, turn down into the neighborhood and make a right onto second avenue. Look for my house to be the fourth or fifth one on the right with the basketball pole that has no goal or backboard. :) She's a green-trimmed monster, but I love her. Wish me luck.

I'm not a member of the Stu Crew, so I hope you don't mind me posting. I did have a brief encounter with the Stu Crew way-back-when in the good-old-days, and, to say the least, it was a time I remember with lots of love! I still think of you all, and I miss you dearly! Congratulations on the new house, Jose! Gainesville is a great place to live! Maybe you already know: my sister Maureen has a house there too... you're almost neighbors! As for me - I'm living in Naples with my husband Brandon, and I just recently retired my teaching position to raise our new baby girl, Clare. (Sheila, Patty, and Gloria - we should start a mommies club! Are there any other moms I don't know about?) And for those of you who knew Eileen, she is living in St. Augustine. That's it in a nutshell. I love you guys! -Kathleen
